What is Leadership Halifax County? It is an exciting program sponsored by the Halifax County Chamber of Commerce created to recruit and educate people with the skills and knowledge to inspire them to serve in leadership positions throughout Halifax County.
Objectives:
Develop leadership skills of participants
Educate participants
Challenge participants to think about the future and change the way they deal with the present
Improve communication skills
Develop new interpersonal skills
Inspire graduates to serve the community through service
Participants: A maximum of 20 people will be selected from the applicant pool based on the application information and recommendations of two people who are knowledgeable about the applicant’s leadership performance and potential. Approval of the applicant’s employer is required. Class participants will be selected to obtain the diversity of talent and experience to successfully represent Halifax County. In addition to the stated criteria, every effort is made to include representatives from business, government, education, not-for-profit organizations, citizens at large and those bringing diversity to the Halifax County Leadership program in areas including, but not limited to, professional, geographic, age, gender, and ethnic background.
Attendance: Attendance at each session is strictly monitored and enforced. Participants missing in excess of one program day or the equivalent will be ineligible to graduate. Because of these requirements and strict enforcement, the employers’ understanding of the commitment is essential.
Commitments:
Participants and employers need to be committed to the attendance policy for the full program.
There may be prerequisite reading and activities for some of the sessions.
One overnight stay is planned for the beginning session in September.
Transportation to and from the session locations is the responsibility of the participant.
A sincere commitment, motivation and interest to serve in the community.
Ability to make the time and personal commit6ment necessary to serve full benefit from the program.
Tuition: Tuition is $700.00 for Chamber members and $800.00 for non-members and is due by September 30, 2012. It is used to defray the program expenses and may be paid by the participant or the employer.
