DESCRIPTION:The Halifax County Chamber of Commerce\, Farm Bureau\, and the Gazette Virginian will be hosting a Candidate Forums on Wednesday\, November 1 for local races. The forum begins at 6:30 pm and will be held in the Southern Virginia Higher Education Foundation Boardroom of the SVHEC located at 820 Bruce Street. Nick Long\, general manager of WHLF 95.3\, will moderate the forum. Those interested in submitting questions for the forum can submit those questions via email to info@halifaxchamber.net. \n\n \n\nThe forum will begin with a conversation with those running for Board of Supervisors. The discussion will be centered around issues before Halifax County and their views of the direction of the county. Larry Giordano\, Jeff Francisco\, and Hubert Pannell have been invited to attend.\n\nSchool Board candidates will be asked similar questions - giving Sandra Coleman and Clinton Boone\, Election District 3 School Board candidates\, a chance to participate in the forum as the only contested race. Roy Keith Lloyd\, Todd Moser\, and Monty Lowery (all of whom are running un-opposed) will have an opportunity to also go on record regarding their positions on pressing issues within the community.\n\nThe Chamber of Commerce understands the key to a successful community is through informed citizens and good leadership. The forum is being held to give voters the opportunity to hear directly from the candidates and to learn their positions on issues.\n\n \n\n''The Chamber works diligently to provide opportunities for local citizens to be informed when they go to the voting booth. Voting is one of the most important things we can do for our county\, state\, and country\," stated Chamber President Mitzi McCormick. "I urge everyone who is able to attend the forum. For those unable to attend\, the forums will be aired on WHLF the following Saturday at 9:00 am\," she continued.\n\n \n\nElection Day is Tuesday\, November 7.
