DESCRIPTION:The public is invited to a grand opening celebration Saturday\, June 17 at the Downtown South Boston Farmers Market. This Saturday is a celebration of the 30th Anniversary of the Market. \n\n\n\nCome enjoy refreshments\, music\, and as always\, lots of home grown and homemade goodies from people you know and trust.  The market will be open beginning at 7:30 am until the farmers sell out of .Stringbeans   Beets   Blueberries   Onions   Red Potatoes   Squash   Cabbage  Cucumbers   Zucchini   Broccoli   Baked Goods   Grass-Fed Grass-Finished Beef   Duck and Chicken Eggs   Non GMO Pastured Pork   Vegetable Plants and Flowers   and TOMATOES!\n\n\n\nActivities for the day include 10 - 11 am Live Music by The Blue Grass Five and Door Prize Drawings. Maria Traynham with Virginia Cooperative Extension Family Nutrition will do a cooking demonstration using produce bought on site at the market that morning and bottled water will be available compliments of Grand Springs as well as coffee and lemonade. \n\n\n\nCome hungry - Two food trucks will be on site - Mama Crockett's Cider Donuts and Tacos el Kora.\n\n\n\n    Virginia Cooperative Extension will be on hand all morning with the Master Gardeners Help Desk and The South Boston Fire Department will be on hand to show a fire truck up close as well as visit with firefighters and give some fire safetytips. They will have fire safety literature for the adults and giveaways for the kids.\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Farmers Market accepts SNAP/EBT on Saturdays and you can stretch your dollars with Double Bucks thanks to our Double Bucks Sponsor Optima Health Family Care!\n\n\n\n\n\nBen Capozzi\, Market Manager\, says "Come early and enjoy yourself! You can get everything you need at the market for an entire week of meals\, from fresh vegetables\, to breakfast sausage\, to dinner steaks!" \n\n\n\nThe Farmers Market is located at 300 Broad Street in the parking lot behind Distinct Impressions and across from True Value.
