He holds a B.S. in history with a concentration in historic preservation and an archaeology degree from Longwood University. He is certified by the National Association of Interpretation.\n\nMark was employed by the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation as a historical interpreter for over 30 years. Before his time at Colonial Williamsburg\, Mark worked as a museum interpreter for the Jamestown/Yorktown Foundation and as a museum assistant at Red Hill. He also served as a Trustee for the Patrick Henry Memorial Foundation.\n\nMark has written and edited numerous articles and books on Patrick Henry\, including Patrick Henry's Virginia (2001)\, Patrick Henry: Corrections of Biographical Mistakes  (2011)\, Give Me Poetry (2011)\, and The Demosthenes of His Age (2013). His most recent book\, In Sickness and in Health: The Marriage of Patrick Henry and Sarah Shelton (2021)\, deals with Patrick Henry's wife's struggle with mental illness.
